Simple machine knitted fingerless mitten on an LK150
The basic construction of the fingerless mitten
You can knit a quick pair of fingerless mittens on an LK150 knitting machine or other flat-bed knitting machines. I use self-striping sock yarn to add interest. The cuff and top edge are mock ribbing. The thumb is created with a full-fashioned increase.
This mitten is knitted from the cuff up. I started by casting on every other needle for the mock ribbing, then increased on both sides for thumb stitches, continued knitting the palm, and ended with mock ribbing again for the top edge.
Mock ribbing and thumb ribbing
You can machine knit the thumb mock ribbing, or just pick up stitches and hand-knit with a magic loop. I did hand-knit for this project. For the machine knitted thumb ribbing, watch the video here: https://youtu.be/pIN2m0mB1sI
