Basic construction of the side way cowl knitting
This project includes 3 knitted pieces. 2 long pieces for the cable and one large rectangle for the background. Since I like to have a larger cable, I knitted the cable separately and sewn up the pieces later.
After all the pieces were knitted on the machine, I arranged the cable at the proper spacing and started attaching it to the main pieces (background).
After the cable stitches are sewn, I use the Kitchener stitch to seam the other 2 ends to form a tube.
I also use the backside of the stockinette panel (reverse stockinette stitch) to make the cable stitch stand out more.
